Meeting topic: Lean Journey in Higher Education--Lessons Learned

Guest Speaker: Mr. Alfred (Al) W. Ryan

Implementing Lean has its challenges in all organizations. Al Ryan has worked with Miami University for over 7 years helping to implement Lean. This lean journey is focused on developing a structure with leadership from the top that begins with the complete support of the Board of Trustees and the Senior Miami University Team working with faculty, staff and students to improve and sustain Miami operations through continuous improvements.

Alfred (Al) W. Ryan is currently the Director of Lean Initiatives for Miami University and has over 40 years’ experience as a senior executive in both Europe and the United States. He possesses a deep expertise in service and security related mergers and acquisitions, performance improvement, management and turn around. He has more than ten years of experience in providing expert guidance to troubled and underperforming companies regarding critical financial and operational issues including asset recovery, corporate dispositions, rapid cost reduction, performance improvement, corporate dispositions and lean six sigma initiatives.
